Duringthepastfewdecades,thenumberofpeoplewithdiabeteshasbeencontinuouslysoaringinAsia-Pacificregionbecauseoftheeconomicboomsandtheresultingsedentarylifestyleinthisregion.Withthischronicdisease,theneedisurgenttoprovidecomprehensivediabetescare,todeliverself-careeducationand,eventually,toreducedevastatingdiabetescomplications.

TheAsia-Pacificregionisculturallydiverseanddynamic.Theremightbeslightdifferencesinculturesandmedicalsystemsamongdifferentareasorcountries.However,wedobelievethatweneedtofacilitateaplatformtofurtherexperiencesharing,communicationsandstudiesintakingcareofourdiabetespatients.

Inthisregards,TaiwaneseAssociationofDiabetesEducators(TADE)ishonoredtohostthe1stAPCDEMeetingin2011.Thesuccessofthemeetingdependsonyourparticipationandinvolvement.Itwillgiveustheopportunitytofurtherenhanceourgoalsandstrengthenthebondsofourfriendship.Yourparticipationishighlyappreciated.WewishyouamostfruitfulmeetinginTaipeiandlookforwardtoseeingyou.
